This is my entry for the Hoffman challenge of 1997. It measures 22" x 26". I wanted to use my wedge ruler again so after sketching several designs, I decided to make this fairy. Her dress was quite a challenge because it is made of organza and I wanted it to look as if it really went around her body. This meant that I had to applique one side of the dress and her body onto the background and then carefully tuck the other side of her dress under the right side of her body and applique them down together. The front of the dress hangs loose, like a real dress. Her skin is made with a sparkly fabric, and her hair is machine embroidered with gold thread. She holds a wand and has stars stiched around her neckline.
