GENERAL SUMMARY


Five years experience as a class teacher in England and at English schools on Ascension Island and Saudi Arabia, working with children during their first and second years at school, in classes of up to thirty children. Responsible for all aspects of early education including beginning reading, number work, writing, science, art and crafts, physical education, music and social skills.

Three years experience running a family daycare/pre-school in my home providing complete daytime care for three, four and five year olds. Responsible for planning pre-school activities, including an introduction to computers, and nutrition for a group of six children.

One year experience as an assistant teacher at a pre-school following the Montessori method, working with a mixed age group of two, three, four and five year olds.

One year experience as a lead teacher at a pre-school in Santa Monica, California, working with three and four year olds, in groups of fifteen children. Responsible for planning daily activities, developing the children's social skills and directing one other adult.

EDUCATION


Received a Certificate in Education in July 1975.

 

Attended Charlotte Mason College Of Education (University of Lancaster, England) from September 1972 until July 1975, completing a three year course in the theory and practice of education and Applied Education. The Applied Education course included the teaching of English, Maths, Geography, Music, and reading for five through thirteen year olds, as well as a study of the organization of learning and the education of the disadvantaged child.

 

Attended Colchester County High School for Girls, gaining seven "O" levels and two "A" levels.
